Mayor Sheila Williams called the meeting to order and Commissioner Weaver offered invocation.  Tracy Sullivan, Town Clerk called the roll.

COMMISSIONERS PRESENT

Commissioner Jenkins, Commissioner Hamm, Commissioner Humphrey and Commissioner Weaver.  Town Administrator, Robert Masters was also present.

NEW BUSINESS

a.  Commissioner Weaver made a motion to approve to hold a  Public Hearing on June

25, 2009 for the 2009/2010 Budget.  Commissioner Jenkins seconded the motion.  The

motion carried.

• 1. Mr. Masters informed the Board that Kevin O’Donnell has recommended a 7%

• electric rate increase and the City of Rocky Mount has proposed a 13% water increase and 10.5% sewer increase for the upcoming fiscal year.

• 1. Commissioner Humphrey made a motion to release David Orcutt from his contract

• with the Town by his request pursuant to provision 9 in the contract.  Commissioner Weaver seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

• 1. Commissioner Weaver made the motion to give Mr. Masters, Town Administrator the

authority to pursue a Town Attorney.  Commissioner Jenkins seconded

the motion.  The motion carried.

• 1. Commissioner Weaver made the motion to allow office employees to close the Town

Office on Wednesdays from 1pm-5pm, starting on May 27, 2009 for training needed

during Tracy Sullivan’s maternity leave.  Commissioner Jenkins seconded the

motion.  The motion carried.
