The Town of Sharpsburg, NC (Population 2,024) is seeking an energetic, highly qualified and motivated Electrical Director. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing & supervising employees engaged in the design, construction, maintenance & repair of engineering services, meter reading & admin. ops. of the Town’s electric dist. & transmission system. This position reports directly to the Town Manager & participates in the development & coordination of long- & short-range capital improvement projects & service extensions/upgrades as needed by the Town. Works with/monitors various contracts while ensuring that modern, safe, effective & efficient methods & safety practices are used by employees, work crews, local contractors & developers. This position also oversees Parks and Recreation. The employee is responsible for representing the Town & it’s Board of Commissioners on a wide variety of citizen-federal-state-local agencies, businesses & orgs. Supervises dept. w/5 employees. Ensures that all federal, state & local rules are regulations are enforced.
Successful candidates must have a stable, accomplished & verifiable work history, & at least 7 years of hands on and supervisory experience in the electrical distribution field; preferably some experience in local government. Minimum qualifications: first class lineman , good driving record and possess CDL or ability to obtain one, ability to operate switch and maintain electrical substation, thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of electrical distribution systems, OSHA standards, applicable electrical codes, and the ability to understand all required info pertaining to wholesale supply service and transmission service.
The Ideal Candidate will have thorough knowledge of electric distribution operations and safety standards, state statutes, procedures, and requirements relating to municipal governments, computer literate, experience & knowledge in project estimating and execution, practices of utilities administration operations, principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and administration, principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
Salary DOQ. Hiring range 45,000-52,000.
