Elton Daniels has served as the Town Manager for the Town of Sharpsburg, North Carolina since September of 2011. He is responsible to the Board of Commissioners for the day-to-day administration of all Town departments, including preparing and administering annual Town budgets. He is also responsible for proposing policies for consideration of the Board of Commissioners and overseeing the administration and implementation of those policies and ordinances.
Prior to working for the Town of Sharpsburg, Daniels served as a Management Advisor for the Towns of Bolton, Navassa and Northwest, North Carolina (as a part of UNC’s and Appalachian State’s Local Government Service Corps http://www.sog.unc.edu/programs/nclgsc ) where he provided hands-on economic development and capacity-building assistance to each community.
Previous to this position, he was a Magistrate Judge for the State of North Carolina (Brunswick County). As a Magistrate, Daniels issued arrest warrants, search warrants, and set bail. He performed marriage ceremonies, administered oaths and heard small claims cases (including summary ejectment cases).
Daniels is a member of the International City Management Association, the North Carolina City/County Managers Association, and American Society for Public Administration.
Daniels holds a Masters of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University, Greenville, S.C.
